Rev. Markus Dünzkofer

Born and raised in Germany, the Rev. Markus Dünzkofer read theology at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany), the University of Edinburgh (Scotland), and Seabury-Western Theological Seminary (USA), and he holds the degrees of Master of Theology (MTh) from the University of Edinburgh and Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary. After graduating from Seabury-Western in 1998, he pursued further training and completed a year of Clinical Pastoral Education as a hospital chaplain at a major medical center in Chicago, IL, USA.

The Rev. Markus was ordained to the sacred order of deacons by the Bishop of Chicago in June of 1999 and started working as the associate rector of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Evanston, Il, USA, the same year. Ordination to the sacred order of priests followed in December of 1999 and he continued to server the people of St. Matthew's for another five years. In January of 2004, he accepted a call from the Bishop of New Westminster to serve St. Paul's Anglican Church in Vancouver's West End as incumbent (senior priest) and moved to Vancouver in June of 2004. He has thoroughly enjoyed working and living in the West End.

As part of his ministry at St. Paul's, the incumbent of St. Paul's is also responsible for the Labyrinth and Markus has been deeply touched by the insights of this ancient spiritual tool and by the people involved in this St. Paul's ministry.

Markus is a member of the Fellowship of St. John (http://www.ssje.org/fsj), the Society of Catholic Priest (http://www.thescp.org/), and Integrity Vancouver (http://vancouver.integritycanada.org/). In his spare time, Markus enjoys times with family and friends, walking, swimming, vexillology, politics, and he has started to learn how to knit.
