Lorne Mallin - Priestly Blessing of Jewish Tradition

Blessings are a central part of Jewish spiritual life, expressed in sound and in movement. Our prayerperformance explores the ancient practices of blowing the shofar (ram’s horn) and chanting the Priestly Blessing. Experience the movement of air twisting through the shofar as it sounds a spiritual wake-up call. Let our interpretive chant and dance of the Priestly Blessing seep into your consciousness and root in your body as we open and expand to the four directions. Feel safe and protected, filled with kindness and grace, whole and at peace. Please join us in the sacred Hebrew chant, which means “May God bless you and keep you”:
Yevarechecha Ya-ah, vayishmarecha ah-ah, (repeat)
Yevarchech, vayishmarech. (repeat)
Lorne Mallin and Asaf Pomerantz host a monthly chanting event in Vancouver www.chantingandchocolate.com that began in 2004. In our prayerformance, Lorne blows the shofar, and then Asaf sings the Priestly Blessing chant as Lorne and dancers move to the flow of the blessing.
