PLANETARY DANCE ~ A DANCE FOR PEACE

John Weiss, RSMT is a Tamalpa Life/Art practitioner, Movement Coach and Registered Somatic Movement Therapist certified through the Tamalpa Institute in San Francisco, California and the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA) in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He has been immersed in his love of movement for more than 10 years. His passion is to explore and share the wonderful resources and tools that human movement provides to enrich one's life.

It was during a successful career in the banking field that John found his love of movement while working with Anna Halprin at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. Anna, co-founder of Tamalpa, is a pioneer in dance and authentic movement as a healing art. This opened up the floodgates to the transformational changes in John’s life. It started him on a life-long journey to discover as much as he could about the healing powers of movement and how this could aid others in their daily challenges. This has taken him from his birthplace in Michigan to California to Germany and since 2004 as a permanent resident of Vancouver, British Columbia Canada.

John draws on his experience as an educator and performance artist to create a space for personal creative energy to flow in a safe, non-judgmental environment. He teaches and guides clients in experiential workshops, classes and one-to-one sessions of self-expression and deeper awareness of oneself, using the healing arts of movement, visual arts, improvisation, written and spoken word.

PLANETARY DANCE ~ A DANCE FOR PEACE
A Roundhouse Partnership

Sat Nov 20, 2:00- 3:30pm
@ Roundhouse Dance Studio

FREE EVENT:

The Earth Run is at the heart of the Planetary Dance and is the inspiration of dance pioneer, Anna Halprin. It is a moving mandala, a simple circle dance that everyone can do based on walking, running, and standing still in the four directions. Musicians are drummers who carry the heartbeat and stand in the center of three circles. The intention is to dance to give power to prayers and to make peace and renewal a reality in the lives of the participants and in the troubled world.

This is open to the general public and very family friendly, so please bring the kids. NO dance experience is necessary.
