The West has technology, intellect and order. Africa has community, joy and spirit. Music, dance and stories are the vehicles that we use in Africa to express our sense of togetherness. In this workshop, we come together as a community, regardless of age or gender, and we experience the spirit of togetherness through chanting and dancing.

Jacky Essombe is a “cultural liaison” between the African and the Western worlds. Her passion for her culture has inspired her to become a professional dancer, dance teacher, storyteller, and TV and radio show host. She uses dance as a medium to express life to its fullest and also as a journey to a higher level of consciousness.
