Aline LaFlamme, a Metis grandmother, is a pipe
carrier, Sundancer, drum maker, singer, traditional healer,
therapist and workshop facilitator who is a founder and past
Executive Director of the Aboriginal Front Door Society providing
tradition healing and culture to downtown Eastside Aboriginal
street people. Aline introduced and carried the sweatlodge,
pipe ceremony and drum throughout the Northwest Territories;
developed and operated culturally based healing programs for
six prisons; is a founding member of the Skemcis Medicine Wheel
Society and annual Medicine Wheel Gathering; founded the Hay
River Aboriginal Women's Association; provided culturally- based
healing workshops and ceremonies through Native Women's Association
for five years; helped train Aboriginal Counsellors for the
first Native Treatment Centre in the NWT: has overseen people
on their Vision Quests for the past 14 years and is honoured
to have helped create over 1000 Native hand drums.
Aline continues to provide teachings and cross-cultural
workshop to colleges, schools and various other organizations.
Aline's education includes a degree in Criminology with a psychology
minor as well as many years of traditional teachings from respected
Aboriginal Elders. Aline brings laughter, deep compassion, spiritual
connection and a gentle heart wherever she goes.
